Pitfall
Canyon
|
|
This
week we arrive at Pitfall Canyon where we are encouraged to put on
the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the
wiles of the devil
(Ephesians
6:11).
We
are reminded that we aren’t fighting against flesh and blood.
One of Satan’s favorite things to do is to cause division in the
church. Sadly, he can be quite successful at it. If he can get us
to look at our brother’s short comings, he can usually cause
strife between us. If he can get us to fight
against
each other then he doesn’t have to worry about us fighting
against him.
This
week, as you suit up for battle, remember who you are fighting
against;
“For
we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness
of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].”
(Ephesians 6:12)

The group will be singing at Vestal
Baptist Church in Knoxville on the 12th of this month. Be sure to
pray for them, as well as those they will be ministering to. I’m
sure we all look forward to hearing about the wonderful things God
does in that service!
Don’t for get that they will
be recording their first CD on the 18th. Continue to pray for them
as God uses them to spread the good news!

- CHRISTmas Play:
- We only have two more play
practices before the play! If you have a part in the play, it
is very important that you come to practice on December 7th
and 14th.
- The Play will be on Sunday,
December 19th at 6pm.

Fighting the Forces
of Evil
Animal trainers say that the
secret of handling lions, tigers, and leopards is to keep them
constantly afraid of you. The instant they get over their fear,
they will attack. They are treacherous beasts and often gather
courage for an attack when the trainer's eyes are turned away
from them. One never knows when they will spring at their keeper
if they have a chance to do it from behind. Our fight with the
forces of evil is like that. Satan is always seeking to attack
us from the rear or in ambush. He goes about like a roaring
lion, seeking whom he may devour, but he is a great coward when
faced with courage. "Resist the devil and he will flee from
you" is as true today as it was when the Apostle James
first made the declaration (James 4:7).
Jeremiah 15:15-21 O LORD, thou
knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my
persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that
for thy sake I have suffered rebuke. (16) Thy words were found,
and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and
rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God
of hosts. (17) I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor
rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled
me with indignation. (18) Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound
incurable, [which] refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be
altogether unto me as a liar, [and as] waters [that] fail? (19)
Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring
thee again, [and] thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take
forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let
them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them. (20) And I
will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they
shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against
thee: for I [am] with thee to save thee and to deliver thee,
saith the LORD. (21) And I will deliver thee out of the hand of
the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the
terrible.

Gibson (Shirley Stanton’s cousin) has been saved!
God
has delivered him of his drug addiction! Keep praying for him as
he begins his new life!
Don’t
forget to carry your pocket prayer list with you.
You can find many opportunities to pray for the needs on
this list, even in the midst of your busiest day! You can take out
your list and pray while sitting in your car at a stop light or in
the line at a drive thru. You can pray while you pump gas or while
you stand in line at the grocery store (instead of reading those
silly tabloid headlines)! You can pray anytime, anywhere!
If
you have a prayer request or a praise report that you would like
to appear in the bulletin (and on the web site), please write it
on the list on the table in the foyer or let me know before
Saturday.
