""WHAT WILL YOU LEAVE BEHIND""
by
Pastor Tony Sutton |
Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of
the earth:
Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world.
Mat 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time,
Thou shalt not commit adultery:
Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them
that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for
them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; |
| WE
FIND IN THE 5TH CHAPTER THAT JESUS SAID THAT WE ARE THE
LIGHT AND THE SALT AND THAT NOT ONLY OUR ACTIONS, BUT OUR
THOUGHTS ALSO CAN HINDER OUR TESTIMONY. |
Mat 6:1 Take heed that ye do
not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye
have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Mat 6:17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and
wash thy face;
Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,
where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break
through and steal:
Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters:
Mat 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your
life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for
your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than
meat, and the body than raiment?
Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. |
| JESUS
TEACHES US HOW TO GIVE, PRAY AND FAST, HE ALSO TELLS US
WHERE TO LAY OUR TREASURES UP AT. WE FIND HERE THAT WE CAN
NOT SERVE TWO MASTERS. WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING IN OURSELVES BUT
ALL THINGS ARE THROUGH CHRIST, AND IF WE WILL SEEK HIM FIRST
ALL THESE THINGS THAT WE NEED WILL BE ADDED TO US. |
Mat 7:1 Judge not, that ye be
not judged.
Mat 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall
find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in
sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Mat 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather
grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit;
but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither
can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. |
| CHRIST
INSTRUCTS THAT WE SHOULD NOT JUDGE, FOR WITH THAT JUDGMENT,
WE SHALL BE JUDGED. HE ALSO TELLS OF WHAT KIND OF FATHER WE
HAVE. HE SAID TO ASK, TO SEEK, TO KNOCK, THEN WE WILL GET,
FIND AND IT WILL BE OPENED TO US. THEN AT LAST WE FIND THAT
JESUS WARNS AGAINST FALSE PROPHETS. HE TELLS US THAT WE WILL
KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUITS. THE QUESTIONS I ASK ARE, WHAT
KIND OF FRUITS DO YOU BARE? WHEN YOU LEAVE THIS WORLD WILL
YOU CONTINUE TO BARE FRUITS? THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT WAS FOR
A REASON. JESUS PREACHED THESE THINGS TO HELP US IN OUR
DAILY WALK. OUR LIVES DO NOT GO UNNOTICED. REGARDLESS OF THE
NATURE OF OUR LIVES, WHETHER GOOD OR BAD, WE STILL HAVE AN
IMPACT ON THIS WORLD AND THE PEOPLE IN IT. MY PRAYER IS THAT
EVEN AFTER MY DEPARTURE I CAN STILL BE REMEMBERED FOR MY
LOVE FOR CHRIST AND BE A LIGHT TO SOME LOST SOUL. |

that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of
truth. |
